IDC Restates Commitment to Development of Iwo

Iwoland Development Coalition, a fast growing development group in Iwo, has restated its unwavering commitment to spearheading development projects in Iwo in a bid to ensure the modernisation of the ancient city and improve the standard of living of its people. The Coalition made this known in a statement signed by its president, Mr. Adisa Kabiru.

The Coalition, whose developmental projects are now difficult to miss in the three local council in Iwoland, also made public its priority projects for the year 2016. Chief among this is the ongoing construction of the Yidi Oba bridge, a project that has already gulped 3.4 Million Naira and still requires another 2.5 Million Naira. When completed, the bridge will bring succor to thousand of motorists and residents of the area and emerge as one of the biggest citizen-driven projects in the city in recent memory.
The Akinbami Health Clinic, commissioned in 2015, is another project the Coalition wishes to continue to work on. The upgrading of the clinic, including painting, furnishing, installation of burglary-proof windows and addition of three standard hospital beds, is high on the Coalition’s project list.

IDC does not plan to spend all its 2016 on completing its uncompleted projects  but also plans to take on new ones. If approved by the members of the Coalition, the Opalamba Bridge in Telemu is another issue the Coalition is considering working on. Also dear to the Coalition is its library project, an initiative that seeks to correct the anomaly that is the absence of a functional and well equipped public library in Iwo.  The establishment of City Post, a community newspaper, is another proposed project that is ripe for actualisation.

In the same vein, the Coalition has expressed its readiness to bring into fruition its orphanage project. When completed, the orphanage will be sustained by parts of the profit accruing from the Coalition’s palm kernel crushing venture. This is in line with the Coalition’s strategy of building sustainability into its projects.

The Coalition has also reiterated its commitment to uplifting its own members through free consultancy services, technical assistance, empowerment and business support services. This is with the aim of supporting members to become financially independent and buoyant enough to contribute to the various ambitious project of the Coalition.
The Coalition also thanked all his members and its benefactors and congratulated the entire people of Iwoland on the installation of Oba AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi as the new king of the land.
